The Hunter Children’s Court Assistance Scheme (HCCAS)

HCCAS provides support to young people and their families who are attending childrens court in the Hunter Region including Broadmeadow, Maitland and Raymond Terrace. We can also support young people at different courts by arrangement.

Information and Referral

HCCAS can give you information about:

What to bring with you to court
What to do when you get to court on the day
Who will be at court
How to get legal advice at court
What your rights and responsibilities are throughout the court process
What to expect in the court room
What different court decisions mean

The court support worker can provide you with information about going to court the process and outcomes. The worker can also give you referrals to other agencies such as youth groups, accommodation, counselling and drug and alcohol programs. Volunteer court support workers also work under the supervision of the schemes Coordinator on court day with the young people and their families.
